Hiiii, I’m Rubie Jo the one woman graphic designer behind RJC
I'm Rubie Jo, a brand and graphic designer in Derby helping helping small businesses and established business owners strengthen and grow their brand through design and marketing.
I'm a creative all-rounder helping you bring your brand ideas to life with experience in brand identity design, marketing design and support, print design such as brand collateral and packaging design plus digital design like website design and social media design. I don't really fit into a neat box, and that's what makes it work. Think of me as your creative partner who thinks about your whole brand, not just one piece.
I work with clients locally in Derby, across the UK and internationally. Thanks to the internet, it's easy for us to collaborate from wherever you call home (yay!).
the journey so far
I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I knew I loved making things and helping people.
My study options in school were art and design, graphic design and resistant materials, so the signs were there and I followed what I loved doing. Self taught making “edits” for friends (hi bebo skins and profile makeovers) plenty late nights on YouTube.
Then straight into a marketing apprenticeship at sixteen, working my way up though learning design and marketing by experiencing it. Developing my skillset working with design, photography and marketing teams throughout my employed life of being an in-house designer for different businesses spanning nearly eight years.
Being in the chaos of print deadlines, designing to customer needs backed by data and understanding how businesses work and how design helped solved problems, encourage more sales and change perceptions. I loved the feeling I got when I helped people through design, and that feeling hasn't gone away a decade later.

Beyond my office
I’m middle child of 5 siblings and auntie Rubie to 7 little ones, so chaos is basically my natural habitat.
Aries is my star sign so you know I’m passionate. When I'm not at my desk you'll find me in the garden or mid DIY project (or three), trying a new recipe or at a gig. I’m a big music fan 90s RnB, pop punk, pop girlies, a bit of everything really. I love the theatre too, and I once danced on stage with Anderson Paak (it was pretty terrifying once up there!).
